  1. Thank you for such a lovely and informative presentation.

The content within the presentation is both clear and relevant to the population, problems, and solutions. Your group has clearly incorporated evidence-based literature throughout the presentation, up reviewing your references I deem them as accurate as evidenced by that they were created within the last 5 years, are clearly relevant, authors are clearly stated, credible, and are peer reviewed. Your group provided more than 3 references and are all in APA format with no errors noted. No plagiarism was noted and in-text citations are both present and applicable.

The first solution provided being employment insurance caregiving benefits and leave is relevant to the population chosen and to the situation described in your presentation, this solution involved an environmental scan on both a national and international level creating well-rounded relevance. The “deconstruction of the solution” was a very unique and provided from a critical thinking lens which was very beneficial to support your understanding and the changes that need to be created which further built off of the challenges. You took this aspect of the presentation to the next level which was very well thought out and supported your presentation well, as you all not only identified challenges but saw opportunity for growth and change within the existing solutions.

Over the phone counselling being your second solution is relevant to the population and topic and I agree with this not being your primary solution due to the level of challenges and effectiveness of such. I think it was an important point made that this solution does not provide 24/hr support. You provided a wide range of examples of different phone lines and offered explanations as to the positives and drawbacks of such. Your explanation for the chosen solution is very clear and concise that supported my understanding of the “why” behind the choice you made. The priority solution being home support/respite is accurate and very relevant to the population. Your group provided in depth specific examples within the chosen solution being changing tasks, standard information, and staff retention which created a strong understanding and made this solution not only relevant but also feasible and the audience is able to see how this can be implemented. Your group clearly outlined both the benefits and challenges of all 3 solutions provided.

Your group created great flow throughout your presentation which helped the audience to gain a better understanding of the content. More than 3 ways of creative ways was used to convey knowledge which included Statistics, analogies, pictures, and slido. These created an engaging environment and captured the audience’s attention. I noted no spelling or grammatical errors throughout the presentation. All sentences spoken by the group were both clear and grammatically correct. Word choice is at an appropriate for your audience. Clear and concise introduction and conclusion was provided. Your group did a great job on the creativity and aesthetics of the presentation. The font size is easy to read from a distance and is clear which makes the presentation very appealing. Your layout is easy to understand and aides the audience in understanding and being engaged during the presentation. Overall the images, words, and other visual aides that you all used were very clear and supported engagement and understanding. There were not enough questions asked in order to determine your response to questions which is not the fault of the group. You all spoke very clearly at a good voice tone and volume that was easy to hear and understand.

    Thank you and well done.

  2. Hello team,
Overall, this was a good presentation. You had detailed analyses of three separate solutions, backed with supporting studies. Unfortunately, I did not hear how the priority solution was feasible to Kamloops during your presentation. While not required, I was disappointed that a land acknowledgement was not included in the presentation. I did enjoy the information provided regarding your population, as well as your case study, as they allowed me a better understanding of the problem and solutions you presented.
The presentation slides were visually appealing, with suitable sized text and supporting images. The layout and organization of the slides were relevant to the agenda of the presentation as laid out in the rubric. Creative options were evident as font, various colors, and fitting graphics were used appropriately in the presentation slides.
The presenters used good volume when presenting. Some of the presenters were speaking quickly, but they were still understandable. The presenters who were waiting for their times to speak were paying attention to their group mates and were ready for their respective cues.
For class engagement, I appreciate the use of a Slido questionnaire. It is a good way to interact with the class while not going over the time limit. Next time, I ask you to be cognizant of the various technologies and devices used by classmates and include both the QR code and the Slido code to allow those whose phones cannot scan QR codes correctly to also participate in the Slido.
As for references, I noticed some formatting and APA errors on your list, but all the references appear credible and recent.
    Thank you and well done.

  3. First of all, great job on your presentation!! You guys created a very asthetically pleasing powerpoint and all the font was easy to read from a distance. You incorporated great images that complemented your presentation well. Each person in your group spoke clearly with a good conversational tone and enthusiasm towards the topic. Each presenter flowed nicely into the next without any awkward pauses. You began the presentation with a concise introduction to your population, issue and added some statistics to show us why it’s an important topic. I felt that your case study was very relevant to your population and a great way to relate it to the audience. You provided a great history of all of your solutions and how they have worked in the past through an environmental scan. When presenting your solutions, you thoroughly explained how you would change them to make them more applicable to Kamloops.

Your first solution of employment insurance, caregiving benefits, and leave I found quite interesting as I did not know these benefits existed in Canada. This is very relevant to your issue chosen. You did an excellent job of explaining the rationale behind this solution as informal caregivers do truly contribute to the sustainability of formal caregivers but they are not properly compensated for this work. You broke down the solution so it was easy for the audience to understand which I really appreciated and spoke about not only the successes and challenges, but the room for growth.

Your second solution of over the phone counselling was also very feasible and pertinent to your issue. With the implementation of 24/7 hotlines for other issues already active, this would make it very feasible to implement in Kamloops. I really liked how you found the Caregivers of BC hotline thats already in place and wanted to edit that model but make it more accessible for informal caregivers who need support 24/7 rather than 8:30-4 on weekdays.

I agree with your priority solution being respite care and home support, however I felt that in the presentation this solution had the least amount of time spent on it which I was a bit disappointed about. I would have liked to hear more about how this is feasible in Kamloops specifically. You discussed the challenges of this thoroughly, and I really appreciated you mentioning giving these providers more autonomy as I think this would solve a lot of the issues with the homecare already implemented in IHA.

Overall, I found no grammatical errors in your presentation and you provided accurate in text citations in APA style which matched your reference page. You used multiple different types of references and had over 10 that were all within the last 5 years. I appreciated your use of slido at the end of the presentation for class engagement as I found this a very unique option for feedback.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your presentation!

  4. Hey guys! Thank you so much for such a great presentation and addressing a topic that is not talked about enough. I appreciate the clear explanation of the case scenario so we can truly engage in the presentation and start thinking about possible solutions. The environmental scan was done well and gave multiple examples of the resources that are available in BC and Canada wide. I appreciate you highlighting the downfalls and strengths of the resources. Your solutions are diverse and target addressing informal caregiver burnout in different aspects.
Solution 1: I appreciate how you highlighted the difference between our EI system and the UK. You also pointed out an important point of how little EI provides for caregivers. The suggestion you are making to make EI more accessible are necessary changes that should be implemented.
Solution 2: Counselling over the phone is a great solution because it provides flexibility for the caregivers. I was wondering who would run these hotlines and what is the training required for the staff. Funding is definitely a big concern and who will pay for these programs to run is another big question because there is already a big debate on who is responsible for what government wise.
Solution 3: Respite/Home support is a great solution to help reduce caregiver burnout. The only concern I have is regarding coverage, because home care is usually not covered by insurance and the government does not deem it a necessity.

All your references are within the past 5 years and all from credible sources. Thank you for a great presentation guys!

  5. Well done presentation by all! I found it very informative and aesthetically pleasing. You did a great job incorporating supportive images into the slides, and I found your colour theme visually appealing. I appreciate how you spread your information out on multiple slides, so it did not look like too much was going on one slide; this aspect kept me engaged. The presenters used good volume, as I could hear the entire presentation, although, at times, members spoke too quickly, and it was hard for me to take notes and follow along. You clearly incorporated evidence-informed literature that was relevant and accurate as I reviewed your reference page and it was done in APA format as per the rubric.

The presentation started off well with a clear introduction to the team members, who identified the population as informal caregivers, the mass burnout that is felt by this population, and solutions to mitigate their concerns. I appreciate being given context about your case study so I could engage fully and better understand where your solutions originated. The environmental scan was done well and clearly identified what is out there already that people have implemented to help support informal caregivers experiencing caregiver burnout. Additionally, when discussing your solutions, you clearly identified the priority solution (home care) and whether it was accessible in Kamloops or not.

Solution 1: Employment Insurance Caregiving Benefits & Leave – This was a good solution as it provides some financial assistance, although not fitting for the priority solution because of some of the downfalls, such as only earning up to 55% of your earnings and that there is only a max benefit coverage up to 52 weeks, and the wait periods before financial aid kicks in. It would be a short-term solution but not sufficient for a long-term situation.

Solution 2: Counselling via Phone – I can see how this is also not a priority solution, but it is appropriate for the population to provide some support and alleviate some feelings of social isolation. I like that you provided resources to multiple lines that can be accessed, although there are some barriers as not all of them are 24/7 access. It is clear which solution is your priority, and you have done a good job deconstructing why the previous two solutions were not ideal.

Solution 3: Home/Respite Care (priority) – I agree that respite/home care should be the priority solution as I feel it would also be the most significant in reducing caregiver burnout by relieving the workload of the informal caregiver. You provided great examples to support that this priority making it feasible and relevant.

    Thank you for sharing!
