Wow, well done on your poster! I think you all did an excellent job identifying an issue in your chosen population. It was easy to read and follow, and I found it very aesthetically pleasing! I think you hit all three perspectives well and concisely. The only suggestion I would make regarding the different perspectives would be adding a point of giving the child the autonomy to make a choice for themselves.
I think the language used throughout the poster is clear and concise. The facts you have chosen support your points well. I suggest making the situation you selected a bit clearer at the top of your poster. For example, you can include a portion at the top of the page dedicated to a brief description of the chosen situation/case. I suggest making the situation another blue bubble with “the situation” in bold and underlined. Alternatively, you could write this at the top where you have put the Infants Act information. I feel this could be helpful so the reader is on the same page with the situation.
You have referenced everything very well on your poster and made good use of numbering your references! The only suggestion I would make about the aesthetics on your poster would be to make the arrows at the top and the bottom (where you put the facts) a bit darker gray. I suggest this just so people don’t miss that these two facts are interconnected. Overall, well done on this project. I think you did a really good job and are the right track with this analysis. I look forward to hearing your in-class presentation in November!

  2. Jillian, Kristin, Jakob and Shivani,
This is an intriguing poster showing an aspect of child healthcare that I have not previously considered before. I am very glad I was able to read such an informative display of easy to read information. The use of graphics helped to direct the focus of my reading. Referring to the autonomy of those 18 and under, although the poster presents the information about the court of law being in favor of the youth as opposed to the parent or guardian, what information would be available showing protection of the youth after their choice that may be against said parent/guardian. In protection of the youth have you found any concern of harassment or abuse from family. Combing interrelationship, boundary, and perspective for each demographic shows a very organized display of information. If shown to youth I believe this poster would prove to be an empowering presentation for autonomy of those who are patients in the hospital. As this poster is based on the demographic of youth it is a proper choice of the terms used in this poster to prevent complication or misinterpretation of information. The use of an introduction in the poster provides context to situation that you present which stated early in this feedback comment was not well known to myself. The use of a summary may add to the point of the autonomy of the youth which was the focus of this poster. I greatly enjoyed this poster and hope to see the presentation as well in November.

  3. Hello Team!
I would first like to congratulate you all on such a well-made poster! I love the use of the arrows and other accents (like the lightbulb) to help guide our reading and navigation throughout the poster, but also highlight important details. The colours used are simple, which does not take away from any of the content, while making the poster appealing. In short, the visuals of the poster are awesome, eye-catching, and work well with the content. My only suggestion in this regard would be on font. The font for both the case scenario and the IPB analysis are easy to read and great. I do suggest however, to limit the amount of different fonts, as it can be distracting to readers as they shift their eyes to the various different fonts. I would recommend then, to apply the font from the IPB section for a larger majority of the poster (including the section on the Infants Act, and then the same font but bolded for the two lines below). That being said, I like that you all used a different font to tie in important facts, details, and supplemental information, which I agree should be different than the IPB analysis components.

In terms of the content of the poster, I am thoroughly impressed at how clear and succinct you presented the information to the readers. For the case study, I can only suggest to add in a statement about how the consent of the parents are then NOT necessary, as it may not be immediately apparent to readers why the Infants Act can be a complex situation. The fast facts (ex. Maturity level) of the case are fantastic at painting the picture of this complex situation, and supporting the IPB analysis, by helping the readers see the systemic and structural factors that are also at play. In the healthcare provider section, I would suggest going more into why they would deny immunization, and going more into what it means that “[they] must ensure the child is giving informed consent”. I would first move the key fact about level of maturity closer to this section, as it is highly relevant, and then just adding to the perspectives the HC provider may have, on assessing maturity of the child. To show a greater connection of this with the child section, I think it would be good to touch on the interrelationship piece of trust the child must have with the HC. The child would not have a guardian to guide them through this process, but there is also that aspect of “convincing” the HC provider that they are competent and understand. Overall, you all did an amazing job at presenting the content in clear manner, but also made good connections with the IPB analysis, and the fast facts helped add to the interconnections of each section.

  4. Hi Everyone,
This is such a good topic – it is so timely in terms of the recent vaccine hesitancy surrounding the COVID vaccine and in light of the upcoming flu shot season. The graphics made the information really engaging and provided flow to the analysis. Adding fun visuals such as lightbulbs and the overall use of colours is very visually appealing but also matches the pediatric population. I notice you have used a grey font colour for the IPB bullet points, I think using a darker colour would help the points stand out more and emphasize the analysis. But I also understand providing contrast between the IPB points and the rest of the poster. The 2 logos at the top of the poster make it seem like ImmunizeBC and the BCCDC are the organizations who made this poster. Were the logos intended as a resource for people to further their reading? I think they lend really nice visual appeal and really tie together the poster as a professional resource; however, I think they also imply the poster came from those organizations.
In terms of content, I think you did a great job incorporating all the interrelationships, perspectives and boundaries with the most pressing of course being provoking retaliation from the parents. I think providing a small outline of your scenario would help the readers better follow along if there is a particular patient you are thinking of.
Overall a great topic that is so relevant in practice today and I look forward to hearing your presentation in November!
