Hi Team!
Thank you for your poster on Addictions & Substance Use. I think the colour scheme used for the background looks great and is appealing to the eye, as well as your use of images to support your topic. I would suggest maybe using something to indicate the flow of text to differentiate the beginning, context, and end of your poster. The text colours are a bit confusing as there seem to be different colours used for the various headings and text but they all match the colour scheme so it blends nicely. Everything can be read at 100% zoom so the text is a good size.
The poster begins with a scenario. Your population is clearly stated and linked to your scenario. The scenario explains a complexity within the population but I would suggest being more specific and adding the bottom part about protocols into your statement about the scenario instead of it being a separate piece. Using acronyms such as CIWA and COWS is great for using less space but may be confusing for those who do not know what they stand for.
The 3 parts of the IBP analysis are clearly labeled throughout the poster. Your poster analyzes the impact of inadequate withdrawal management in the hospital and links to protocols not providing comprehensive care. You made connections to the population and how it would impact them in your scenario. I would recommend expanding your interrelationships to incorporate more about the relationships between the people stated in your poster. The information provided is evidence-based and incorporates the need for further research to change the current management protocols.
References are linked, submitted as a separate attachment, and follow APA. I would add 4 more references to follow the scholarly references rubric of having 10 or more references. 2 of your references are also outside of the tome framed outlines in the rubric (within 5 years 2019 – 2023). All sources are credible and a variety of sources are cited. I would add footnotes to your poster to connect your ideas to the references provided.
Overall your poster looks great and was informative. I can’t wait to see the final poster during your presentation!
Hi Team,
To start, you have a very visually appealing poster. I like the use of different colours to separate each section – it makes it easy for readers to differentiate where one idea ends and the other begins. As well, your chosen images complement the ideas you present. I think you have a great balance of text, images, and space where I would not feel bombarded with words if I were to come across your poster.
Your scenario is descriptive and straightforward, which managed to catch my attention upon reading it. I like that you have highlighted how current protocols are currently inadequate for clients who use substances. However, I think seeing acronyms such as “CIWA” and “COWS” may be confusing for individuals who are not in healthcare or are not familiar with the terms. I would suggest expanding on these terms and putting the acronyms in brackets.
You have highlighted components of the IPB analysis well. For interrelationships, I especially like the fact that you have expanded on the main points by providing examples (ex. who could be involved in a care team). The examples you have under perspectives are great and show connections with other components of the IPB analysis. For this section, I think it would also be interesting to consider and include perspectives from clients’ personal supports. You have included incredible (and appropriate) solutions which reveal your vision for the future.
Lastly, you have credible and appropriate references. However, I would suggest finding four more references as the rubric calls for 10 references to receive full marks. I also suggest refraining from using contractions (ex. “doesn’t” and “don’t” under “Perspectives”) to maintain a formal and professional tone within the poster.
Overall, great work on the poster and I look forward to seeing your final draft and presentation.
Hi Team,
Well done on your Addictions and Substance Abuse poster!
Content:
– All of the content was well established and titled. The scenario is well labeled and easily visible at the top of the poster. The poster covers the topic while being kept short and sweet in efforts to not deter the reader from continuing. The topic of “Perspectives” was well divided between the two populations both patients and nurse/provider. Both evenly addressed with not one or the other having a noticeable amount of increased information that could create an unevenness within the information being presented. “Interrelationships” has been laid out very plainly and to the point, creating an easier read and is conclusive of required context, however a possible elaboration on how the collaboration takes place during the presentation may be nice. I thoroughly enjoy the “Boundaries” as they are short and to the point but highlight much of what is commonly seen and that are active barriers within health care today. “Solutions” covered both nurse provider and patient topics well with multiple solutions for both.
References:
– The references used are appropriate in relation to the project, however I would recommend adding references to reach the required minimum reference list for the project. In addition, I would ensure that all references are within the five-year timeframe. Aside from those suggestions, all references are well cited following APA.
Aesthetic:
– The poster is aesthetically pleasing – the colours are cool and inviting without taking away from the content labelled creating a pleasant backdrop for the reader. The content is clearly visible and easy to read at 100% magnification. The font for both titles and content is easy to read and doesn’t create confusion or the need to re-read for the viewer. The titles and sections of the poster have been separated well and in a manor that the readers eye flows across the poster as it should and doesn’t go straight to one part of the poster and get stuck there. The pictures/images used within the poster are simple and not overpowering, complimenting the titles and sections they are situated in well without taking away from the content provided.
Well done team! I thoroughly enjoyed your poster and look forward to seeing you present.
Hi Team,
I want to start by applauding your outstanding work on the poster! It caught my attention with its clarity, even at 100% zoom level, and maintained a non-distracting quality throughout. The use of bullet points was a brilliant choice, enhancing the overall readability. Your meticulous attention to detail in terms of font size, layout, colour scheme, and the incorporation of images is truly exceptional.
One minor suggestion is to consider cropping the title page picture that appears before the poster. I noticed some colours and writing around the border, a very minuscule detail that would contribute to a cleaner overall presentation. I applaud the creativity displayed in the depiction of the process of pulling an individual out of a bottle; it adds a unique and engaging element to the poster.
I have noted that all components of the IPB are clearly labelled and easily identifiable within your poster. Furthermore, I appreciate how you’ve explicitly integrated specific tools such as COWS and CIWA, into your problem statement. Your solutions are well-thought-out, and I agree that incorporating nurse-driven protocols and educational training is a significant step toward addressing the issue. I do notice in your solutions you have created a plan toward a deeper understanding of system thinking approaches shifting from traditional views of complex situations.
While I understand that in-text citations are optional, as stated on page 6 of the poster outline, I suggest considering their inclusion. This could strengthen the poster’s robustness and lend credibility by citing evidence-based literature using the Vancouver style references (e.g., [1] or [1,3,5]) where applicable. Additionally, it might be worth seeking out four more references to meet the minimum requirement of ten, and reassessing the 2018 reference as it falls outside the five-year timeline.
Overall, fantastic work on the poster project! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poster!
